2023 Mat-Su Holiday Market

The Mat-Su Holiday Marketplace is a one stop holiday shopping extravaganza for Wasilla and the Mat-Su Valley. This event takes place at the Menard Sports Center (44 mile Parks Highway) and gives the area an opportunity to shop for unique and one of a kind gifts, right in their neighborhood, without that long commute to Anchorage.

Artists and craftsmen will fill over 100 mini specialty shops with literally thousands of holiday gift ideas. Jewelry, furs, original artwork, fleece, pottery, etched glassware… you’ll find unique items from all around the state. No need to waste a tank of gas looking for the perfect gift! Make Santa proud this year and get all of your holiday shopping done in one warm location with lots of EASY… FREE… parking at the Mat-Su Holiday Marketplace.
There is a $5 admission charge, kids 12 and under are free, and Sunday is free to Military with ID or anyone who brings 2 cans of food for a local food bank.

Alaska Mountain Bike Summit

Alaska Trails, the BLM, Chugach Mountain Biker Riders, Singletrack Advocates, Arctic MTB, Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers, Mighty Bikes, Hilltop Ski Area and Bike Park, and other Alaskan MTB clubs are banding together once again for the 2nd Alaska MTB Summit at the Government Peak Chalet in Palmer.

The Alaska Mountain Bike Summit seeks to bring together nonprofits, clubs, and mountain biking advocates from across the state to share information and plan a way to maximize the knowledge and expertise in the state to build, maintain, and ride more mountain biking trails.

Social Security Video Service Launch

We are pleased to announce that the Mat-Su Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) will begin facilitating Social Security Video Service for residents of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the ease and accessibility of communications between community members and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
These video service calls will continue once per month by appointment only.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Response Team Meeting

Knik Tribe is hosting a meeting scheduled for September 12th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and will take place at Mat-Su Health Foundation’s Conference Center [777 N. Crusey St.]. The goal of this gathering is to come together as a community to discuss strategies, share insights, and collaborate on efforts to address the challenges faced by Indigenous communities regarding missing and murdered individuals.

As we all recognize the significance of this issue and the need for collective action, we kindly request you share the attached flyer with your network and encourage others to join us in making a meaningful impact. By working together, we can contribute to creating safer and more supportive environments for everyone. Together, we can bring positive change for the future.
