Mat-Su Ski for Women

Come and be part of the excitement at the Government Peak Recreation Area for the Mat-Su Ski Club’s annual “Ski for Women” event! Since 2014, this vibrant fusion of Nordic skiing and a costume party has attracted individuals of all genders and skiing skill levels. It’s a celebration that embraces everyone, fostering a lively and inclusive community. Be a part of the excitement – you won’t want to miss the fun!

Registration opens at 12:00 pm, with a 4K ski tour kicking off promptly at 1:00 pm.

Let your creativity shine, as costumes are welcome and highly encouraged!

After skiing the course, gather in the Chalet for an indoor potluck. This year, we’re thrilled to revive this cherished tradition, providing a warm respite for attendees. More than just a meal, the potluck offers a unique opportunity to socialize and strengthen community bonds. Join us in reviving the spirit of togetherness.

2024 ALPHA Health Summit

The 2024 Summit theme will be a grand celebration of 50 years of the Association’s pursuit to advance the health of Alaskans and Alaska. The Summit will offer space for us to reflect on the accomplishments and impact of the Association as well as outlining a vision for the next half century. Featuring nationally-known keynote speakers, professional development opportunities, and the latest work of your public health colleagues from the UA system, the Alaska Department of Health, and other Alaska health and social service organizations through interactive sessions, posters, and our new lighting-round talks. Sessions address a wide variety of important focal areas including:

Public Heath Infrastructure
Public Health Programming
Sexual Health & Wellness
Rebuilding Trust in Public Health

Free Movie: All the Lonely People

All The Lonely People places a human face on the hidden epidemic of chronic loneliness and social isolation. Built on hope, it shares the latest research and interventions for individuals and communities
and leaves audiences feeling empowered and reconnected.
The film features two residents of Palmer, Alaska, who will attend the show! A panel discussion will follow featuring Valley residents who are working to help address issues of loneliness.

Facilitator Training | Adverse Childhood Experiences

R.O.C.K. Mat-Su is hosting a FREE 2-day Facilitator Training for our foundational presentation on Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resilience.
Participants will be trained to deliver the Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resilience training program to adults in their organization or community. Additionally, we encourage facilitators to talk openly about ACEs and Positive Childhood Experiences and agree to host trainings in the Mat-Su.
Participants will learn a deeper understanding of:
• the ACE study
• Epigenetics
• Brain Architecture
• Resilience and Positive Childhood Experiences
• Stress-body reactions
Participants can expect:
• Multiple opportunities to practice presenting the established PowerPoint “ACES and Resilience” and/or work on creating a personalized presentation that fits your organization’s needs.
• A copy of the PowerPoint presentation, additional resource materials, videos, and handouts necessary for personalizing their presentation.

Join us for coffee, tea, and snacks!🌟
Bring your oracle cards, your crochet, your coloring books, or whatever cozy project you need time for and snag an aura photo before the change of the year. We will have the aura camera set up for first come first serve sessions for printed pictures, digital aura reports, and full aura photo readings.

Ice Fishing w/ Santa & The Grinch

Bring the kids for a fun day of free ice fishing on Finger Lake. Ice huts, poles, and bait all provided. See Santa and The Grinch!
AT THIS TIME, WE RECOMMEND WALKING OUT, USE SNOW MACHINES OR 4 WHEELERS!
Parking at the state park boat ramp. Fishing will be within sight of the boat ramp. Snow machines will be available to shuttle people to and from the ice huts. Personal machines or 4 wheelers are welcome.
