Step Up Now ( S.U.N) Presentation for Parents and Youth Workers

Did you know the state of Alaska consistently rates the highest in the nation for sexually transmitted infections per capita?

Did you know that half of all new occuring sexually transmitted diseases are among 15- 24 yr olds?

Did you know that teens feel pressured to have sexual intercourse, rather than delay, because of comprehensive sexual education?

As adults invested in the quality of life of our youth, we want to change these statistics.

Join us for an informative presentation on the updated SUN program and the unique risks to Alaskan youth. There will also be a Q + A time afterward. This event is geared toward parents, pastors, educators and anyone who works with or raises young adults.

The Step Up Now (SUN) program uses the Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA) approach instead of Sexual Risk Reduction. SRA seeks to help young individuals eliminate risk as opposed to simply reducing it. This interactive presentation shifts the focus from the problem to the solution: healthy boundaries, strong identities, and self worth.

Visit Step Up Now website for more information on this program https://www.akstepupnow.org/

The GEMS®: Using Skills That Make a Difference

The GEMS®, developed by acclaimed dementia educator Teepa Snow, is a dementia model that focuses on an individual’s uniqueness and capabilities, rather than on their memory loss. The GEMS® model recognizes the dynamic nature of the human brain and its abilities.

Join us to discover how to use this knowledge to improve everyday living, care tasks, and communications. People, like gemstones, are precious and unique—with the right care and setting they can shine

Free to attend! No Registration required.
