The Little Engine That Could – St. Patrick's Day Celebratory Fundraiser
March 15 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm AKDT
Ceol, caint, agus, craic and…bogshodar!
The Friends of the Palmer Public Library and AKtive Soles are co-hosting an all ages St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Sunday, March 15, from 1-5 p.m. at the Palmer Depot which include AKtive Soles’ community race “Palmer’s Dash for the Gold” – a one-mile fun run for kids 10 & under and a 5K & 10K for all ages – all proceeds from which will go to support the NEW Palmer Library (slated to break ground in May!). Just prior to the race start at 2 p.m. will be a short parade behind the Depot – all are welcome to join in making a joyful noise in celebration of our new library and to toss a donation of their choosing (not obligatory) into a big black cauldron – a veritable “Pot of Gold” that will be located by the race start arch. Costumes and noise makers are encouraged!
Registration is required for the one mile, 5K and 10K races:

Inside the Depot the Friends of the Palmer Public Library are providing free entertainment with Irish folk music and dance performances by Bosca Ceoil (ca. 1:30-2:30) and Alaska Treble Makers (ca. 3:45-4:45), an opportunity to purchase merchandise and a free arts and crafts table staffed by the Palmer Arts Council. Beverages and lights snacks will be available for purchase by Lekker Coffee & Baking Co. and 203 Kombucha.
The Friends of the Palmer Public Library wishes to thank all of the community members who have been so supportive of our Little Engine That Could fundraising efforts to support the new library and an especially huge thank you to AKtive Soles for donating all proceeds of the race toward these efforts! Together we are all making Palmer history and it is thrilling!
