Plants for Salmon is back—bigger and better for Year 4!
Join us on Saturday, June 14th, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Montana Creek for a hands-on, family-friendly event to help restore a beloved local salmon stream.
🌿 Roll up your sleeves and dig in—we’ll be planting native trees, bushes, and flowers to help keep our waterways healthy and salmon thriving. Whether you’re a local who loves this creek or a visitor looking to give back, this is a great way to connect with the land and make a real difference.
🐟 Enjoy a day of fun and learning with:
🐟 Live fish tanks & salmon science activities 🐟 A land acknowledgment by the Knik Tribe 🐟 Fly casting demos 🎣 Free food, temporary tattoos, and Alaska seeds to take home 🐟 Interactive kids’ activities 🐟 Local watershed experts sharing knowledge 🐟
🧤 We’ll provide all the materials, but bring sturdy shoes, gloves, and a shovel if you’ve got one!
This event is a massive community collaboration—hosted by the Susitna River Coalition and supported by Knik Tribe Mat-Su Salmon Habitat Partnership Trout Unlimited the Matanuska Susitna Borough Alaska Department of Fish and Game US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Palmer Soil & Water Conservation District, special thanks to NOAA for additional habitat restoration project funding and extra support from the Southcentral TU Chapter, the Mat-Su Health Foundation, and the Jessica Stevens Foundation Student-led grant.
Please RSVP. While RSVPs aren’t required, it helps us plan for food. Come plant, learn, eat, and celebrate salmon habitat stewardship with us!
