Where: Palmer Train Depot
When: Doors open at 6:30PM, Presentation starts at 7PM. Event usually lasts about an hour.

Presentation details: For thousands of years, the Mat-Su has been the homeland and travel corridor of the Ahtna and Dena’ina peoples. Long before modern roads, people moved seasonally through the region, following rich networks of rivers, trails, and mountain passes. The Dena’ina of Upper Cook Inlet traveled widely across what is now the Susitna and Matanuska river basins, fishing salmon-filled waters, hunting moose and caribou, and gathering plants along routes still recognized today. To the east, the Ahtna people journeyed from the Copper River Basin into the Talkeetna and Chugach foothills, trading with neighbors, sharing knowledge, and maintaining deep relationships with the land.
Join Fran Seager Boss on a journey through time as we look at the Mat-Su through the eyes of an archeologist.
