Self-direction puts participants in control of their own life! With self-direction, participants decide: what supports are needed or wanted, who will provide the support, when will the support be provided, where the support will be provided, how the support will be provided.

2026 R.O.C.K. Mat-Su Community Baby Shower (Palmer)
Beacon Hill is partnering with R.O.C.K. Mat-Su to host a Mat-Su Community Baby Shower in Palmer!
This is a FREE, open-to-the-community event!
Registration Required.
Each year, the baby showers evolve as the creative minds of community partners find new and exciting ways to meet the three goals of the Community Baby Showers:
1. Celebrate Mat-Su Families and our newest residents
2. Provide an opportunity for parents to connect
3. Allow parents to add new skills to their parenting toolbox
The community baby showers are for Mat-Su families who are expecting or have an infant up to one year old. Every year, we give away up to 250 gift bags that include approximately $100+ worth of baby essentials to help give the family the best start possible.
Additionally, we offer door prize giveaways for participation in activities such as car seats, strollers, gifts for new big brothers or sisters, and other prizes.

Colony Days 2026 – Palmer’s Signature Summer Celebration
Join us for Colony Days 2026, Palmer’s annual celebration of community, history, and local pride. This long-standing tradition honors Palmer’s agricultural roots and brings residents and visitors together for a full weekend of activities and events.

Community Clean Up at Rabbit Slough
Come lend a hand! ADF&G is inviting you to participate in a community clean up at Rabbit Slough, in Palmer Hay Flats State Game Refuge.
Volunteers can pitch in to preserve the scenic beauty of the refuge by collecting roadside trash in the tradition of community stewardship and in support public land.
Directions:
Take the Trunk Rd exit from the Parks Hwy, turn onto E. Fireweed Rd and follow the frontage road until it ends at Rabbit Slough.
