SUMMARY:Moose Nugget Regatta
DESCRIPTION:The Moose Nugget Regatta is a one-day rowing event put on by the Anchorage Rowing Association and attended by about 100 athletes and a volunteers ranging in age from 11 to 75. Teams come from Seward\, Soldotna\, and Anchorage with athletes living all over Alaska. We occasionally have lower 48 and international crews attend. You saw “Boys in the Boat”\, now see rowing live! \nWe compete on a 1\,000 meter course laid out with buoys across the South shore of Wasilla lake. We launch a race every 10 -15 minutes from 9 or 10am to 4pm on Saturday. The public is invited to come cheer on the crews and learn more about the Alaska rowing community. DESCRIPTION:This FREE presentation is open to ADULTS who are interested in learning how to identify and counteract Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) to develop resilient kids. \nRegistration is not required. \nFrequent or prolonged exposure to stress can create toxic stress which can damage the developing brain of a child and overall health. A Survival Mode Response to toxic stress increases a child’s heart rate\, blood pressure\, breathing\, and muscle tension. Their thinking brain is knocked offline. Self-protection is their priority. In other words: “I can’t hear you! I can’t respond to you! I am just trying to be safe!” \nLearn How Resilience Trumps ACEs!
