SUMMARY:Miles for Meals on Wheels Fun Run

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.\, and the run starts at 10:00 a.m.\nThis special event is more than just a fun morning of walking and running it is a powerful way for our community to come together in support of the Meals on Wheels program. Every mile completed helps ensure that seniors in our community receive nutritious meals and the caring connections that mean so much. \nThis year\, our goal is to raise $100\,000 to help sustain and expand our Meals on Wheels services. With rising food and delivery costs\, community support is more important than ever. The funds raised will go directly toward providing meals to seniors who depend on this vital program to remain independent and healthy in their own homes.\nWe invite you to participate\, sponsor a runner\, create a personal fundraiser\, or make a direct contribution. Every donation large or small makes a meaningful difference.\nTogether\, we can ensure that no senior goes without a warm meal and a friendly visit.

A Survival Mode Response to toxic stress increases a child’s heart rate\, blood pressure\, breathing\, and muscle tension. Their thinking brain is knocked offline. Self-protection is their priority. In other words: “I can’t hear you! I can’t respond to you! I am just trying to be safe!”\nLearn how resilience trumps ACEs!\nParents\, Teachers\, and Caregivers can help by:\n– Gaining an understanding of ACEs and how they affect children’s social\, emotional\, and cognitive abilities and their connection to a wide range of health problems throughout a person’s lifespan.\n– Creating environments where children feel safe emotionally & physically.\n– Helping children identify feelings & manage emotions\n– Creating a safe physical & emotional environment at home\, in school\, and in neighborhoods.\n– Share ways to build resilience. \nRaising Resilience Presentation:\nThis will include information from a 2019 Johns Hopkins study on the effects of positive childhood experiences. Despite growing up with adversity\, positive experiences buffer the trauma and promote healing.\nLearn ways to foster healthy growth and development in children that correlate to stronger adult mental health and overall wellness. \nQuestions or special dietary needs?
