DESCRIPTION:Come join the part fitness but mostly fun Zumba and enjoy dancing to the international rhythm of meringue\, salsa\, cha cha and other pop music.\nOur Zumba class is suitable for all ages and abilities and all participants must sign a liability waiver before joining a class (only sign up once)\, kids are also welcome to join but all minors must be accompanied by an adult. The class varies from low to medium-impact movement to help loosen up those joints and it’s always a good thing when we break a sweat. We will provide bottled water for you to stay cool and hydrated during this fun workout.\nEvery time you attend a class\, you will earn a ticket and at the end of the season on August 28\, 2021\, we will have a raffle drawing and you can get a chance to win a 3-month Gold Family Membership\, a $500 value sponsored by The Alaska Club and others prizes. SUMMARY:Youth Backpacking Trip
DESCRIPTION:This 8 day course is the ultimate backcountry adventure!  The first morning is spent in town on a low and high rope challenge course where you and your expedition team will meet and explore concepts in problem solving\, decision making\, and relationship building.  We then head to our base camp to prepare for our expedition.  Lessons on rationing\, bear safety\, and packing a backpack will all be a part of our expedition preparation.  We’ll stay the first night at our base camp; testing out our tents and sleeping systems and the next morning we’ll depart for our off trail adventure!  Throughout the expeditions students will learn and practice expeditionary skills such as navigation\, route finding\, risk management\, teamwork and leadership skills. \nTuition: $600- Scholarships available. Building on the education provided in Stewards of Children®\, Darkness to Light’s evidence-based training on preventing\, recognizing\, and reacting responsibly to child sexual abuse\, you will learn how to talk with and listen to children about sexual abuse and personal safety. DESCRIPTION:July is Disability Pride Month! 31 years ago on July 26\, 1990\, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed by Congress\, establishing America’s commitment to end discrimination against people with disabilities. Disability Pride means accepting and honoring each person’s uniqueness and seeing disability as a natural and beautiful part of human diversity. Disability Pride awareness events promote visibility and mainstream awareness of the positive pride felt by people with disabilities. DESCRIPTION:Q-Club is a social and educational group open to all LGBTQ+ teens and allies ages 13-18 in Alaska. Meetings offer education around a subject relevant to the lives of queer youth\, such as applying for college to LGBTQ-specific sex ed. SUMMARY:Youth 360 2020 Student Survey Results
DESCRIPTION:Youth 360 believes that youth and families thrive in supportive and connected communities and that local residents can benefit from timely and local information about their young people. To provide feedback from local youth\, Youth 360 worked with the Mat-Su Borough School District to survey nearly 1\,000 Mat-Su 6th-11th graders in December 2020.  We will host a Zoom discussion of survey results on Thursday\, July 29th at 4 pm.  We will dive deeper into the results and gather insights and feedback.
